Mandolin Improvisation Series

Lesson 1: "Nine Pound Hammer"

This lesson deals with the topic of melodic embellishment. “Nine Pound Hammer” is used as a model through three successive variations. This lesson includes the use of repeated notes, rhythmic variety, and additional melodic tones in ornamentation of a basic melody.
Tablature, notation, and analyses is provided in the pdf files. The audio examples are midi files. When I return to North America I’ll post recordings using live instruments.
